Montessori World Puzzle Map requires a precise pincer-grip, and fitting the puzzle-pieces back into the puzzle board requires exactness and meticulousness due to its irregular shape. So, a child will first learn the continents and their positioning on the Golbe, and only then you will introduce the World Puzzle Map.Kids also can trace the continent puzzle pieces on a white cardstock paper, write continents’name under each shap, and laminate for durability.
Map Making
Trace the control map and color in with colored pencils, paint, oil pastels, or colored chalk.
Trace around each continent on the appropriately colored construction paper. Pin-punch or cut out the continents. Then glue onto blue circles that have been painted on paper or cut out of blue paper and glued down.
Maps may be labeled with pre-printed labels, labels written out by then child, or names of continents could be written directly on the map.
Objective:
Introduce the child to the Map of the World, concepts of Land and Oceans, continents and various other geographical notions. Each continent is coloured differently to help kids distinguish between them. This map will work well in combination with the montessori continents globe – the colours will help the child observe the relationship between the continent on the map and its position on the globe.
In addition to geographical knowledge this excellent quality montessori puzzle map will develop and improve pincer grip and fine motor skills as the kids pick up puzzle pieces by the small knobs and put the map together.
